For me, art serves as a means of communication with both myself and others. In my formative years, I came to understand my struggles with sexuality, mental health, and identity through the act of creation. And just as I shared my experience through art, I found new perspectives through the media that I consumed. I've processed loss through listening and songwriting, dissected my insecurities through illustration and observation. I've come to understand the world by creating my own through writing, acting, and storytelling, while also immersing myself in the fictions of others through games, film, and theatre.
Because of this, game design made for the obvious synthesis of the creativity that I had spent my life cultivating and consuming. The world of games is uniquely capable of communication, with interactive play being maybe the best way we've found to manufacture empathy for perspectives outside of our own. So it is my hope that I might both communicate my own perspective and come to understand the perspective of others through understanding, collaboration, and synthesis.
